Boston Logan Airport Shuttles, Taxis and Trains

Introduction

Logan Airport is served directly by bus, airport accessible van, limousine, Logan Express, Logan Shuttle, MBTA subway and bus, shared van, South Station / trains, taxi, and water transport.

Public Transport

The city's subway and buses are run by the Massachausetts Bay Transport Authority (MBTA); locals call it the ‘T’; for details of schedules and fares see the MBTA website. Other authorities run other transport services.

Public Transport: Subway and Rail

Airport Station is a subway stop on the Blue Line. A shuttle bus runs between the station and all terminals.

Trains go straight from Airport Station to downtown Boston. This is convenient for north-central destinations. Change at State or Government Center to travel by Orange Line or Green Line and go to North Station for commuter rail services to north Boston.

South Station is a subway stop on the Red Line and a commuter rail hub for South Boston. To get there from the airport take the Silver Line bus service.

Public Transport: Buses

Logan Express

The Silver Line bus service is a Massport service which operates from Braintree (south of Boston), Framingham (west of Boston), Peabody, and Woburn (north of Boston) to all the terminals. Full-service bus terminals and secure long-term parking are available at all the above locations.

This rapid transit service is the main airport bus service. The Silver Line drops off and picks up in front of the terminals. As well as South Station, Silver Line buses also go to other south-central destinations like Boston Convention and Exposition Center. Routes 449 and 459 also travel via the airport.

Logan Shuttle

Massport provides a complimentary shuttle bus service between airline terminals at the arrivals levels, the airport subway station on the MBTA Blue Line, the Water Transportation Terminal, and satellite parking. All shuttle buses are wheelchair lift equipped. Massport shuttle bus service operates seven days per week.

Shared Van Services

The area between Logan and Greater Boston is served by City Transportation, Easy Transportation, J.C. Transportation Inc., Logan / Boston Hotel Shuttle, and Star Shuttle Inc. The area between Logan and Western Massachusetts is served by Knights Airport Limousine Service, Worcester Airport Limousine, and Zebra Airport Shuttle. The area between Logan and Northern New England is served by Flight Line, Mermaid Transportation, and Flight Line - Seacoast Service.

Airport Accessible Van Services

Massport offers a free service between airline terminals and all airport locations for passengers with disabilities. At Logan Airport, call: +1 617 561 1769 for this service.

Taxi Services

Boston taxis are available at Logan terminals 24 hours a day and provide service to all of New England. All areas within a 12-mile radius of downtown Boston are charged a metered rate. Beyond the 12-mile radius the charge is a flat rate. All fares are based upon the occupancy of one to four passengers per taxi. Station wagons, accessible taxis for passengers with physical disabilities, and credit card taxis are available upon request at Logan Airport. For further assistance, contact a Massport Ground Transportation agent, located outside of each terminal on the arrivals level.

Limousine Services

Limousines are available only by advanced reservation by calling your local limousine carrier. Limousine drivers report to the Logan limousine holding area and then proceed to the terminal limousine stand area when the flight has arrived. At Terminal B, the stands are located at US Airways, departures level, curbside and American Airlines, departures level, curbside. At Terminal C, passengers should look for signage directing them to the central garage, Level 4, and may take the pedestrian walkway, which will bring them directly to the limousine stand. At Terminal E, the stands are located at the outermost curb area.

Water Shuttle and Water Taxi Services

The water shuttle and water taxi services are an excellent way to avoid road congestion around the airport and for enjoyment. Scheduled and on-call vessels serve the Logan dock and provide direct connections to downtown Boston and other popular waterfront destinations in Boston Harbor year-round. Massport courtesy bus service carries passengers between the Logan dock and all airport terminals.
